Miami Swimming Claims Co-Ed Victory Against Cleveland State

The Miami University swimming & diving team took a dual victory at home against Cleveland State. The women's team won by a 214-41 margin and the men's team came out on top by a margin of 132-130 at the Saturday afternoon meet.
 
How it Happened:
  • The Miami women's team took first place in 14 of their events, while the men's team came in first in five events.
  • For the women's team, the RedHawks swept the top three spots in the 400 medley relay, with the A relay of Angelina Cakuls, Sara Lahrach-Sanchez, Emily O'Connell and Nicole Maier taking first with a time of 3:49.14. The men's relay A also took first in the same event, with Owen Blazer, Adrian Dulav, Henju Duvenhage and Jack Herczeg earning a time of 3:22.87.
  • The Miami women's team swept the top three spots in eight individual events. Winners for these events were Madeline Padavic in the 100 backstroke (56.65), Lahrach-Sanchez in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.54), Rachel Botting in the 50 freestyle (24.23), Honor Brodie-Foy in the 100 freestyle (53.11), Cakuls in the 200 backstroke (2:03.62), Anna Martin in the 200 Breaststroke (2:23.42), O'Connell in the 100 butterfly (56.29) and Emily Rinker in the 200 individual medley (2:10.35).
  • Individual winners for the RedHawks in other events were Natalie Stump in the 1000 freestyle (10:43.34), Erin Szczupakiewicz in the 200 freestyle (1:54.40) and Maier in the 200 butterfly (2:04.27) and 500 freestyle (4:59.52).
  • The Miami women's team also claimed the top two spots in the 400 freestyle relay, with the A relay of Maier, Botting, Katheryn Antonowich and Brodie-Foy taking first with a time of 3:31.71. The men's team grabbed first and third place in the same event, with the A relay of Pedro Gueiros, Herczeg, Nic Wamsley and Ben Chatwin earning a time of 3:03.07 with a match-winning drive for the men.
  • The Miami men's team took first place in multiple individual events, including Yonatan Rosin in the 1000 freestyle (9:44.74), Cole Grosshans in the 50 freestyle (20.70) and Wamsley in the 100 freestyle (45.75).
 
Up Next:
The Miami women's team will travel to take on Bowling Green on Saturday, Oct. 23, with start time set for 1 p.m.
