
RedHawks Topped in Three Sets at Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind.—The Miami University volleyball team (6-17; 4-9 Mid-American Conference) fell to Ball State University (22-3; 12-1 MAC) Saturday evening at Worthen Arena, 17-25, 19-25, 13-25.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
"Ball State played great volleyball tonight. Their accurate passing made it possible for them to dominate from the middle and right pin. There were lessons learned tonight as we turn our focus to winning the Battle of the Bricks next week."
NOTES:
Miami returns home for a Battle of the Bricks weekend against Ohio University. The RedHawks battle the Bobcats at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5 for Youth Night before clashing with Ohio at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6 for Senior Night. Both matches are also Butler County Nights.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- A 5-0 run handed BSU an early 7-3 lead in the opening set. Kills by seniors Gaby Harper and Sophie Riemersma helped Miami close within 8-10, but the Cardinals were able to extend their lead to 19-12. A 3-0 spurt with kills from freshman Brooke Cirigliano and sophomore Maggie McCrary put the RedHawks within 15-19, but the Cardinals maintained their edge as they posted a 25-17 win in the opening set.
- The second set was a tight battle with neither team leading by more than two points until a 4-1 run by the Cardinals handed them a 14-11 edge. Miami battled back and used kills from Gaby Harper and Riemersma to even the set, 15-15. BSU outscored the RedHawks 10-4 down the stretch to take the second set, 25-19.
- Miami started out the third set taking an early 5-4 lead with kills from junior Lindsay Taylor and Riemersma. The Cardinals came back with a 6-0 run to take a lead they would not relinquish as BSU notched a 25-13 win in the third stanza.

- Gaby Harper led Miami with 10 kills.
- Lydia Harper notched 30 assists.
- Riemersma tallied two service aces.
