RedHawks Suffer 4-3 Defeat Against Michigan State

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Michigan State got on the board early, making the score 1-0 just four minutes into the game.
- The Spartans added to their lead over the RedHawks with 2:58 left in the first quarter, to gain a 2-0 lead.
- After 15 minutes played, the RedHawks had three penalty corners but were unable to generate any shots. Michigan State had seven shots and two penalty corners after the first quarter.
- The RedHawks offensive attack was very active in the second quarter putting pressure on the Spartans defense as they battled to cut into the lead
- Michigan State added another goal to make the score 3-0 at halftime. At the half, Miami led in shots 10-7 and in penalty corners 6-2.
- In the third quarter, Reese Wearren scored off of a penalty corner for the RedHawks with just under six minutes left in the quarter, putting the score 3-1. The goal was Wearrens's first of the season.
- At 13:50 in the fourth quarter, Claudia Negrete Garcia scored on a penalty stroke to pull Miami within one goal, 3-2.
- Michigan State added a goal to make it 4-2 with just under four minutes to play.
- Negrete Garcia responded quickly as she raced down the field off of the restart to get her second goal of the game, making the score 4-3.
- Miami finished the game leading in penalty corners 11-6 and in shots 21-13.
