Miami will prepare for nationals in two weeks.
MENTOR, Ohio – In its final regular season competition, Miami's collegiate synchronized skating program took the ice at the Tri-State Championships on Saturday afternoon.
The RedHawks performed their 'Me and My Girls' free skate to a score of 82.75, which finished second in the five-team field. Adrian took the competition with a 91.90. That snapped a streak of 10-straight first-place finishes for the collegiate team.
"There were a lot of really nice things about the skate," head coach Carla DeGirolamo said. "Unfortunately, we had three uncharacteristic falls, each in an element, which hurt us and moved us to second. I'm looking forward to training for the net week and a half before nationals and making that final push to defend our title."
Miami's three falls deducted three points from its overall total as it posted an element score of 39.35 and a component score of 46.40 to reach its total.
The RedHawks' next competition comes when they head to the USA Synchronized Skating National Championships in Providence, R.I. Feb. 28-29.
