
Shorthanded RedHawks Fall at Bowling Green, 71-66

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Miami University women's basketball team went into Bowling Green with just eight healthy players and went toe-to-toe with a Falcons team that is now 6-1 overall and 2-0 in Mid-American Conference play. The 71-66 loss drops Miami to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
In the loss, Kelly McLaughlin had a career-high 22 points and 18 rebounds, while Katie Davidson added 16 and Peyton Scott chipped in with 12.

How it Happened:
- McLaughlin had seven points in the first quarter as the RedHawks trailed 17-16 after 10 minutes of play.
- McLaughlin continued her hot shooting midway through the second quarter, connecting on her first career three pointer to give Miami a 25-22 advantage with 5:05 to play. A McLaughlin put-back at the buzzer gave Miami a 34-33 lead at halftime.
- A three pointer by Davidson gave Miami its biggest lead of the contest at 46-41, but the Falcons finished the third quarter on an 11-4 run and led 52-50 after three quarters.
- Kenzie Schmitz connected on a triple from the left wing to knot the score up at 55-55 before BGSU took a 61-57 lead with 4:52 to play.
- Out of the media timeout, Davidson scored five points in 29 seconds to give the Red and White a 62-61 advantage.
- BG outscored the RedHawks 10-4 to close out the game.
Game Notes:
- McLaughlin made her first career three pointer in the first half of the contest. She came into Tuesday's action 0-for-1 in her career from behind the arc and was 1-for-2 on Tuesday.
- Peyton Scott and Davidson extended their double-figure scoring streak to six games. Scott finished the game with 12 and Davidson had 16. Scott matched her career-high with seven assists.
- Miami came into the contest with a rebounding margin of 8.8 per game and outrebounded BGSU 43-28.
- The RedHawks shot a season-high 45.3 percent from the floor.
Miami returns to action on Jan. 2 in a home contest versus Buffalo.
