MT. PLEASANT – The Miami University women's basketball team had a season-best 11 turnovers, but struggled shooting the ball all afternoon as it dropped a 69-51 decision on Tuesday afternoon versus the Central Michigan Chippewas. The loss drops Miami to 1-3 on the year, while CMU improves to 3-1 this season. It was the MAC opener for both squads.

Peyton Scott had a team-high 18 points, while Kelly McLaughlin added 13 and Katie Davidson chipped in with 11, but the RedHawks shot just 18-of-59 (30.5%) for the game. Miami was also 3-of-19 from behind the arc.

How it Happened:

Central Michigan scored the game's first eight points before the RedHawks closed the first quarter with a 13-8 run to trail 16-13 after 10 minutes of play. Scott had six points in the opening quarter.
Miami continued to trail by five at 26-21. CMU finished the half on an 11-5 run to send the teams to the locker room with the Chippewas leading 37-26.
CMU drilled a three pointer at the end of the third quarter to hold a 53-39 lead with 10 minutes to play.
The Chippewas outscored the RedHawks 16-12 in the fourth period.

Game Notes:

Peyton Scott finished the contest with 18 points. She has scored in double figures in all four games this year. Scott added a career-high seven assists as well.
Freshman Katie Davidson added 11 points and six rebounds. Like Scott, Davidson has also scored double figures in every games this season.
Kelly McLaughlin added 13 points, just two points shy of her career-best.
Miami had a season-best 11 turnovers on the day.
