CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Miami RedHawks put together their best team performance of the young season Friday night as they took down the Cincinnati Bearcats X-X on the road. The 'Hawks improve to 2-3 with the win in the rivalry match.

The RedHawks got off to a quick start in doubles, taking the game's early point. Melati Devi and Makenzie Myers earned a 6-2 win on court three before reigning MAC Doubles Team of the Week Brindtha Ramasamy and Laura Rico clinched the point with a 6-3 win at first doubles. The team of Lysova and Kalita also held a lead before their match was left unfinished.

Ramasamy kept her foot on the gas into singles, where she dominated the Bearcat's Guna at number one. She completed a perfect set one before a 6-1 second set gave her the win and the RedHawks' second point. Devi was the next in the clubhouse, also using a decisive second set to win 6-4, 6-1 on court three. Laura Rico then clinched the win for the 'Hawks and made it 4-0 after winning 7-6, 6-2 at second singles.

After Miami clinched, the Bearcats would be able to claim some consolation points with three straight wins on courts 4-6 to end the match. Both Lysova's match (after a 14-12 tiebreak in the first set) and Kalita's match on courts four and five went three sets, with Lysova narrowly falling in a third set tiebreak.

This marks Miami's first win against Cincinnati since 2012 after the Bearcats won four straight following MU's five-match streak from 2008-12.

The RedHawks will take a two-week break before returning with two more matches against Southwest Ohio foes in Dayton and Xavier.
