RedHawks Sprinters Lead the Way on Day One at IU

Miami placed runners in the finals of each sprint event.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The first day at the Gladstein Invite wrapped up for the RedHawks on Friday, with a good showing in the sprint events highlighting the day.
On the women's side, Miami put runners in the finals in both the 60m dash and the 60m hurdles. Olivia Bechtel finished fifth in the prelims of the 60m to advance to the finals, where she replicated her performance with a fifth-place (7.67) finish. Kayla Walters did the same in the hurdles, where she started with an impressive third place in the prelims before sliding into fifth in the finals after running an 8.93 time.
Elsewhere, Claire Linn did well in the fast section of the mile, running a 4:56.9 for seventh place. Morgan Pohl took a top ten in the 5K, while freshman Carmen Riano made her debut in the 3K as Miami's top runner in the event.
Addison Hoover was the feature event of Friday's field events, recording a personal-best throw of 17.91m (58-9.25). This garnered a fifth-place finish for the freshman.
 The Miami men likewise had a good day in the sprints, with Jeremiah Hunter and Al Margo qualifying for the finals of the 60m and 60h respectively. After a 7.04 run in the prelims, Hunter kicked it up a notch and crossed the line in 6.89 in the finals to finish in fifth. Margo took seventh in the hurdles, recording a time of 8.65.
