Box Score EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Miami University volleyball team had a strong start in the first set against 21st-ranked Tennessee to open play at the Auto Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational on Friday, but the Lady Vols were able to get their swings going as the RedHawks fell, 0-3 (20-25, 15-25, 15-25). Miami is now 2-3 on the season, while Tennessee is 1-3.

Allyson Severance each had kills to help the RedHawks take a 6-4 advantage. Leading 7-6, two kills from Wojick and one from junior middle hitter

Louise Comerford sparked a 5-1 run that put Miami on top, 12-7. After Tennessee scored three in a row, another service ace by Taylor and a kill from Severance were part of a 3-0 run that made it 15-10. The Lady Vols turned the momentum around with a 9-1 run that gave them a 19-16 advantage. Comerford put down a service ace to get the 'Hawks within one at 18-19, but UT finished on a 6-2 run to take a 25-20 win.
Tennessee jumped to a 14-5 lead to take control early in set two. Powell, Wojick and Severance each put down kills, while Wojick had a service ace, but the RedHawks were unable to cut into the deficit. The Lady Vols ended up coming away with a 25-15 win.
The RedHawks fell behind 4-9 in set three. Kills from Wojick and Powell, along with a block by Wojick and Powell pulled them to within three at 7-10. Tennessee responded with a 10-4 run to take control at 20-11. That proved to be enough as the Lady Vols finished off a 25-15 victory and won the match in straight sets.
Wojick led Miami with eight kills. Severance and sophomore right side hitter
Sophie Riemersma each had six.
Miami concludes play at the Auto Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational when it takes on Indiana State Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The game will stream live on BTN+.
