Miami University travels 45 minutes down the road to face arch-rival Cincinnati in the annual Battle for the Victory Bell on Saturday, Sept. 14. Kickoff is slated for noon.

The matchup with the Bearcats will be carried live on the ESPNU. Kevin Brown will handle play-by-play duties, while Andre Ware will serve as the color analyst.

About Chuck Martin
• Head coach
Chuck Martin, who earned that title on Dec. 3, 2013, brings an impressive resume to Oxford, Ohio.
• Not only was he 74-7 in six years at Grand Valley State (2004-09), he has coached in seven national championship games in the past 17 seasons.  Martin has an all-time head coaching record of 97-47.
• He has twice been named the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) National Coach of the Year and has been a coordinator on both sides of the ball.
• Martin was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Grand Valley State University on Oct. 23, 2015.
Recap Vs. Tennessee Tech
A dominant defensive first half and a solid ground game gave the Miami football team a comfortable 48-17 Homecoming win over Tennessee Tech.
Miami outgained Tennessee Tech 190-74 on the ground with five rushing touchdowns and had a 349-282 edge in total offense for the day. They also forced three Tennessee Tech turnovers.
Tyre Shelton led all players with 65 yards on the ground. In his second career start, Gabbert finished 10-of-17 for 152 yards through the air while chipping in a pair of rushing touchdowns.

Jalen Walker tied for the game lead with 60 yards receiving.
Defense Dominant In First Half
With the game out of hand, most of Miami's starters only played 30 minutes of action, but what they did in limited time was impressive.
• In the first have the Golden Eagles had 12 rushes for minus-1 yard.
• Tennessee Tech had 83 total yards in the first half with three turnovers.
• Tennessee Tech ran 30 plays in the first half ... 16 of those plays resulted in either an incompletion/interception or a tackle for loss.

Bart Baratti had his first career interception and first career touchdown, recording a pick-6 in the first half.
• With the new NCAA red-shirt rule, Miami was able to get 83 players on the field in Saturday's win.
• Four RedHawks made their first career start versus TT:

Offensive Explosion
• The 48 points scored last Saturday are the most points Miami has scored under Coach Martin. Last season Miami scored 42 points twice and the RedHawks scored 40 in a 2016 game against BGSU.
About Cincinnati
Cincinnati enters Saturday's game with a 1-1 record, with a 24-14 win over UCLA and a 42-0 loss at Ohio State. The Bearcats are averaging 12.0 points and 345.0 yards of offense through two games. They have allowed 28.0 points and 363.0 yards per contest. Desmond Ridder leads the passing attack with 408 yards passing and two touchdowns on the year. Defensively, Darrick Forrest leads the bunch with 16 tackles.
Series Vs. Cincinnati
• The "Battle for the Victory Bell" between Miami and Cincinnati is the longest-lasting collegiate football rivalry west of the Allegheny Mountains, first being played in 1888. It is also the fifth-most played rivalry in Division I (FBS only) with 123 all-time meetings and is the oldest non-conference rivalry in the nation.
• The first Miami/Cincinnati game was played in Oxford on Dec. 8, 1888 as the teams played to a scoreless tie. The game was the first college football game played in the state of Ohio.
• Miami controls the all-time series 59-57-7, but the Bearcats have won the last 13 meetings. Miami's last win versus UC was back on Sept. 28, 2005 in a 44-16 win in Oxford.Â
• The two teams have played every year since 1945, not playing in 1943 or 1944, but Miami and UC also played every year from 1909 through 1942. Of the 123 meetings, 54 have been decided by seven points or less, including the seven ties in series history.
• The two schools recently announced that the series would be extended through 2029.
Preseason Poll
Miami was picked to finish second in the MAC East 2019 Media Preseason Poll. Ohio was picked to win the East with 144 points, recording all 24 first-place votes. The RedHawks were second with 107 points, followed by Buffalo (100 points), Kent State (62 points), Akron (54 points) and Bowling Green (37 points). Toledo was picked to win the West Division.
New faces on Offense
After graduating 25 seniors last season the RedHawks have several new faces on the team this year, many of them on the offensive side of the ball.
QB
Brett Gabbert: First true freshman to begin a season as Miami's starting quarterback in school history. Has thrown for 338 yards and two touchdowns in two career starts.
RB
Tyre Shelton: Redshirt freshman leads the team with 69 yards rushing through two games
WR
Jalen Walker: The sophomore came into the year with 12 career catches. He currently leads the team with 88 yards receiving.
Red Means Go
Miami is a perfect 9-for-9 this season on red zone opportunities. After a 2-for-2 start at Iowa, Miami was a perfect 7-for-7 last week. In those nine attempts, Miami has scored seven (77.8%) touchdowns. Last season, Miami was 42-for-43 in the red zone with 35 (81.4%) touchdowns. Miami was also 33-for-33 in the red zone during MAC play with 27 touchdowns last year. In its last 14 games, Miami has scored on 51-of-52 red zone opportunities.

Miami is 16-6 in MAC play over its last 22 games, tied for the best conference record in that span. NIU and Toledo are also 16-6, followed by WMU (15-7) and Ohio (15-7).
Offensive Line A Strength
Heading into this week's action Miami has one of the most veteran offensive lines in the nation. Overall, Miami's offensive line has started a combined 77 games.
Danny Godlevske leads the bunch with 25 starts, followed by

Matt Skibinski (13), Peter Nank (1) and
David Redding (1). That experience has shown early in 2019. Miami has allowed just one sack on 44 pass attempts and four tackles for loss in two games.
