IU's Billy Hayes Invitational will serve as a warm-up for next week's MAC Championship.
OXFORD, Ohio - With the 2019 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championship on the horizon, the Miami University track and field team will head to Indiana's Billy Hayes Invitational. The single-day meet will be held on Friday at the Haugh Track and Field Complex in Bloomington.
The 'Hawks head to Indiana having ran at the 125th edition of the historic Penn Relays in Philadelphia last week. Miami's relay teams led the way, with all four taking top-ten finishes in their events. The headliner was the women's 4x400 team of Olivia Bechtel, Sarah Bruns, Emily Hooker, and Kalliopi Kountouri, who set two successive school records including a 3:38.29 in the championship round that garnered them a fifth-place finish. In addition, several Miami athletes were also in competition at Ohio State over the weekend, with Danielle Collier leading the charge with yet another javelin win.
Friday's field events will kick off at 1 p.m., starting with the hammer throw, and run throughout the day. Running events get started at 4 p.m. with the prelims of the 110m hurdles and will continue through the evening, culminating with the 4x400 relays at 8:30 p.m., which will include Miami's record-breaking quartet.
The schedule of events and start lists for each event are posted above. In addition, live results can be found at the link above.
Next weekend will see the RedHawks vie for a conference championship at the MAC Outdoor Championships. The meet is hosted by Ball State and will run from Thursday, May 9 to Saturday, May 11.
