Miami Falls to Toledo in the Final Day of the MAC Tournament

The RedHawks were shutout for only the second time this season.
AKRON, Ohio – The Miami University softball team (35-16, 16-4 MAC) was shutout by Toledo (27-26, 10-9 MAC) by a 0-5 margin in the final day of the MAC Tournament on Saturday.
Miami 0, Toledo 5
Brianna Pratt started the game in the circle for the RedHawks. She pitched two complete innings, giving up three runs on five hits and one walk. Pratt struck out two batters.
Courtney Vierstra came into the game as relief to start the third inning and pitched the remainder of the game. She gave up two runs on two hits and three walks. Vierstra struck out five batters.
Each team started the game with a bunt single but the game remained scoreless until the top of the second. Toledo got onto the scoreboard with a one-out solo shot. Three singles scored the other two runs of the inning as the Rockets took a 3-0 lead.
Toledo scored its other two runs in the top of the fourth. Vierstra walked the bases loaded after Miami catcher Kara Leckinger appeared to throw out a runner stealing to end the inning. An RBI single scored two.
Miami's defense put Toledo down in order in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings but was unable to score.
Morgan Lott, Hannah Obrey and Haeley Tran each had a hit in the game. Ashton Slone, Tran and Mackenzie Moore each drew a walk.
