The regular season champion RedHawks look to add a tournament title this weekend.
OXFORD, Ohio - After closing the season as Mid-American Conference Regular Season Champions, the Miami University women's tennis team will now turn towards capturing a tournament crown this weekend. The MAC Tournament will be held this Friday-Sunday, hosted by Buffalo.
The RedHawks (10-10, 6-1 MAC), the tournament's number one seed, will play Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in the first of two semifinals.
LAST TIME OUT
Miami clinched its 23rd MAC Championship last Friday, taking down the visiting Western Michigan Broncos. The RedHawks earned the 4-2 win off the backs of a doubles point, singles victories from Makenzie Myers and Melati Devi, and a tense third-set tiebreak win from Brindtha Ramasamy.
POSTSEASON AWARDS
The MAC announced its 2019 postseason award winners Thursday, with three RedHawks taking home honors. Head coach Ricardo Rosas was named the MAC Coach of the Year, marking his second such award after he won in 2010 as an interim head coach. Ramasamy not only garnered First Team All-MAC honors but was also named as the conference's Newcomer of the Year as the most outstanding freshman in the league. Milana Lysova also took home All-MAC honors, being named to the second team.
