Tennis Finishes Weekend With Loss to Xavier

Ramasamy wins yet again to move to 6-1 on the year.
CINCINNATI - In its second of two matches in the Queen City this weekend, the Miami University tennis team couldn't get things rolling as the RedHawks dropped their Sunday evening match to the Xavier Musketeers, 6-1. The RedHawks now slip to 1-6 on the spring season; the Musketeers are 5-2.
Despite once again coming close, the 'Hawks were not able to get the opening point in doubles. After Xavier earned a win at second doubles, Miami's Brindtha Ramasamy and Makenzie Myers evened things up with their own win on the third court, 6-3. XU then claimed the doubles point, as the team of Kyle/Thomas took the deciding victory at first singles to clinch.
It wasn't long into the singles session that Xavier got to four points and clinched the overall match, as well. The Musketeers took two-set wins on courts two, three, and four to jump out to a 4-0 lead and seal the win. With the match decided, the remaining three courts went to three set tiebreaks. Despite courts five and six going to Xavier, Miami was able to get a point on the board when Ramasamy won her third set tiebreak on the first court. The national #96 improves to 6-1 on the season with her win, stretching her win streak to six matches.

The RedHawks will look to end their current three-match slide on Saturday, when Miami hosts Western Kentucky at Riverside Athletic Club in Hamilton. The match is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. first serve.
