Miami Wins Match Play Tournament

DADE CITY, Fla. – Miami University capped off its second straight Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play tournament championship on Tuesday with a win over Bowling Green in the final, 5-1. The RedHawks defeated Drake and Ball State in the first two rounds on Monday to advance to the championship round.

Leading the way for Miami was freshman Jack Ebner who won all three of his matches at the tournament. Sophomore Charlie Nikitas, redshirt senior Brian Ohr, and junior Cam Solomon also picked up wins against Bowling Green.

Nikitas and Ohr both did not trail in their matches winning 2&1 and 3&1, respectively. Solomon won 2-Up after winning the last three holes of his match. Ebner finished his great tournament by defeating Bowling Green's Nick Hofland 1-Up. Finishing all-square for the RedHawks were junior Jack Katarincic and sophomore Jack Mortell.

The Miami University golf team will return to action March 4-5 when they compete at the Colleton River Collegiate in Bluffton, South Carolina.
