OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University women's swimming and diving team picked up a dual meet win against MAC-foe Buffalo, winning by a 151.5-148.5 margin on Saturday. The RedHawks won nine events.
Camila Lins de Mello and
Hannah Fuchs led Miami with three event wins apiece.
Lins de Mello's first win of the day came in the 200 free (1:49.58), in which she beat all other competition by more than three seconds. Lins de Mello also won the 100 free (50.73) and the 500 free (4:56.16).
Fuchs swept the breaststroke events, winning both the 100 breast (1:04.23) and the 200 breast (2:17.84). She also won the 200 IM (2:04.76).
Miami claimed the top two times in both the 100 breast and the 200 fly. In the 200 fly,
Kayleigh Cannon won (2:02.30) and
Ashlyn Underhill finished second (2:05.88). In the 100 breast,
Sam Sutton (1:04.39) finished just behind Fuchs. Cannon also won the 100 fly (56.03) to sweep the fly events.
Caroline Ehlers tied for the fastest time in the 50 free (23.65).
Carolyn Jungers finished second in the 100 back (57.97) while
Izzy Herb was the runner up in the 200 back (2:04.19).
Emma Bradley finished second in the 1000 free (10:32.82).
In the diving well,
Mackenzie Holtz led the RedHawks in the 1-mtr dive (244.95), finishing fourth overall.
Maddie Folta led Miami in the 3-mtr dive (260.55), finishing fourth as well.
Miami came in second in both the 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay. In the 200 medley relay,
Izzy Herb,
Sam Sutton,
Madison Hoehn and
Caroline Ehlers finished with a time of 1:45.43. In the 400 free relay, Underhill, Ehlers, Herb and Lins de Mello made up the time Miami relay (3:26.67).
