The RedHawks host the Akron Zips on Saturday at 1 p.m.
OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University swimming and diving team is back in competition this weekend on the women's side as the RedHawks host Akron on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Nixon Aquatic Center.
The Miami men and women had last weekend off from competition after opening the season against Michigan and Navy on Sept. 20 and 21. While Miami fell to both Michigan and Navy on the men's and women's sides, Camila Lins de Mello took home two event wins for the RedHawks, winning the 200 free (1:48.46) and the 200 IM (2:03.15). Lins de Mello and Nic Wamsley were named MAC Swimmers of the Week following the meet.
Akron won its sixth-consecutive MAC Championship last season and was picked to repeat as MAC Champions in the preseason coaches' poll. This meet opens the regular season for the Zips after they competed in an intrasquad meet last weekend. Last season, Akron was 6-1 in dual meets, beating Buffalo, Ball State, Bowling Green and Ohio in MAC meets during the regular season. The Zips also won the Zip Classic, Magnus Cup Invitational and the Zippy Invitational, while finishing second at the Shamrock Invite.
Live stats will be available on Meet Mobile.
