YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Miami University women's swimming and diving team fell by just four points to Eastern Michigan on Saturday in a conference dual meet despite winning 10 events on the day.
The first event win of the meet for the RedHawks was in the 200 free. Camila Lins de Mello won the event (1:50.63) while
Molly Zilch was the runner up (1:52.89). Lins de Mello also won the 100 free (50.95) while Zilch captured the 500 free (5:02.91).
The RedHawks had the four fastest times in the 200 breast. Fuchs picked up the win (2:18.99) while
Anna Martin (2:22.35),
Sam Sutton (2:24.38) and
Bri Alexander (2:25.38) rounded out the top four.
Lins de Mello earned her third event win of the day in the 200 IM (2:03.61) with Fuchs (2:05.34) and
Carolyn Jungers (2:07.88) rounding out the top three.
Miami also took the top two spots in the 100 breast with Sutton getting the event win (1:05.06) and Fuchs touching the wall second (1:05.83).
Kayleigh Cannon swept the fly events, winning the 200 fly (2:02.94) and the 100 fly (56.55).
In the 50 free,
Caroline Ehlers had the fastest time (24.07).
Izzy Herb, Ehlers,
Ashlyn Underhill and Lins de Mello won the 400 free relay (3:28.42).
Herb, Sutton,
Madison Hoehn and Ehlers finished second in the 200 medley relay (1:46.31).
Mackenzie Holtz led the RedHawk divers in the 3-mtr with a runner-up score (233.33). In the 1-mtr dive, ÂÂÂÂHoltz had the top Miami score (237.60), finishing fifth.
In the 1000 free,
Emma Bradley finished third (10:28.45).
Herb led the RedHawk women in both the 200 back (2:06.61) and the 100 back (58.75), finishing fourth and fifth overall, respectively.
The Miami women host Buffalo in a MAC dual meet next Saturday at 11 a.m.
