At age five, Lauren Dortch was diagnosed with cancer. She went through 14 chemotherapy treatments and 25 radiation treatments within nine months before being declared cancer free. Last spring, Dortch had a full hip replacement as the radiation treatment she had as a kid was to the right side of her body and today, she is back playing Division I field hockey.
"My situation is not my identity," said Dortch. "My sport is not my identity. My Identity is in my faith in the Lord and that has just been something that has carried me through ever since I had cancer all the way 'til now."
