Miami set to face off against Harvard and Boston University.
OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University women's tennis team is set to continue its road swing this week in Massachusetts with matches against Harvard Friday and Boston University Saturday.
RAMASAMY EARNS FIRST-WEEK HONORS
The RedHawks opened the spring season last weekend with road losses to two power-conference opponents in Kentucky and Louisville. Despite the losses, a bright spot for the 'Hawks was freshman Brindtha Ramasamy, who earned her first career Miami victory by taking down Louisville's nationally-ranked Aleksandra Mally 6-4, 6-3 at number one singles on Sunday. For her efforts, Ramasamy was named Mid-American Conference Singles Player of the Week.
MATCHUP WITH THE CRIMSON
The match Friday is set to get underway at 3 p.m. at Harvard's Murr Center Courts in Cambridge and will be broadcast on ESPN+. The Crimson sit at 1-0 on the young season, earning a decisive 7-0 victory over Rhode Island on Tuesday. Harvard is led by senior Erica Oosterhout and junior Jenna Friedel at the top of the lineup, as well as a five-star freshman in Rachel Eason. This marks the first-ever meeting between the RedHawks and Crimson.
MATCHUP WITH THE TERRIERS
Saturday's match will mark the season opener for the Terriers after their first scheduled one was postponed last weekend. BU returns five-of-six singles starters from a team that went 9-13 in the 2017-18 season, led by a former Patriot League Player of the Year in junior Remi Ramos. The RedHawks and Terriers have met on three occassions before, with Miami going 2-1 in those contests. The last meeting was in 2015, a 5-2 BU win. Saturday's match is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start and will be played on a neutral court at Harvard.
