Swim/Dive Beats Oakland, Falls to Michigan in Season Opener

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Miami University swimming and diving team competed against Michigan and Oakland. The women lost to Michigan 52-248 and beat Oakland 190-108. The men lost to Michigan 55-245 and beat Oakland 175-125.

In the 200 medley relay, the top Miami women's team comprised of Abby Stone, Anna Martin, Izzy Herb and Ella Moynihan finished fourth (1:47.80). James Wray, Nikola Andjelic, Iago Moussalem and Nick Ward finished sixth among the men's relay teams (1:33.60).

Emma Bradley finished third in the 1000 free (10:15.92). Brandon Crist had the fastest Miami men's time (9:44.02), finishing fifth overall.

The Miami women finished in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth spots in the 200 free. Molly Zilch finished third (1:53.62), with Moynihan, Peyton Rayburn and Hunter Scott rounding out the top six. Gordon Wheeler led the Miami men with a sixth-place finish (1:43.60).

In the 100 back, Wray finished third (50.92). Herb finished sixth (57.16), the fastest among the Miami women.

Martin finished third in the 200 breast (2:20.92) and fifth in the 100 breast (1:05.68) to lead the Miami women. Andjelic's time took sixth (58.50) in the 100 breast and fifth in the 200 breast (2:10.54) as the fastest Miami men's times.

In the 200 fly, Kayky Mota finished second (1:50.19). Kayleigh Cannon's 200 fly was good for fifth (2:05.94).

Ward finished fourth in the 50 free (21.05). Anna Justinak touched the wall fifth (24.82).

In the 3-mtr dive, Maddie Folta scored the highest among the Miami women (222.90), which was good for fifth overall. Folta was seventh overall in the 1-mtr dive (200.50). Ryan Nash led the men, finishing in sixth in both the 3-mtr dive (264.90) the 1-mtr dive (315.40).

Rayburn finished fifth in the 100 free (53.67) for the women while Diego Valentim finished sixth (46.84) for the men.

Carolyn Jungers swam the fastest time for the Miami women in the 200 back, finishing fifth (2:05.42). Wray finished fifth for the men (1:52.50).

Moynihan led the Miami women with a fifth-place finish in the 500 free (5:04.48). Crist finished fifth on the men's side (4:41.64).

Moussalem finished second in the 100 fly for the men (49.03) and Herb finished fourth in the 100 fly (57.01) on the women's side.

In the 200 IM, Mota finished second (1:52.38) among the men's heat. In the 200 IM, Hannah Fuchs came in fifth (2:07.95) for the women.

In the 400 free relay, Rayburn, Herb, Stone and Moynihan were the fastest Miami women's team, finishing third overall (3:32.46). For the men, Valentim, Nic Wamsley, Ward and Moussalem were the top men's team, also finishing third (3:04.72).

The Miami women travel to Ohio for a dual meet on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 11 a.m.
