OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University Head Swimming and Diving Coach Hollie Bonewit-Cron announced the addition of eight athletes to the team's roster for the 2018-2019 season. This group joins the 14 swimmers Miami signed in November to complete next year's incoming class.
Men
Chief among the additions is Kayky Mota, who joined the team in February and earned First Team All-MAC honors at this year's MAC Championship. Placing sixth, second and fifth in the 200 IM (1:47.54), 400 IM (3:51.00) and 200 butterfly (1:47.41), respectively, he scored 44 individual points and factored heavily in the team's third-place finish. Mota, a native of SÃÆ'Æ'£o Paulo, Brazil, joins other Brazilian natives Iago Moussalem and Diego GonzÃÆ'Æ'¡lez Valentim on Miami's squad.
Grant Cicci, a Dublin, Ohio resident, brings lifetime bests of 21.00 in the 50 free and 46.28 in the 100 free to the RedHawks. He rounds out a deep class of sprinters for Miami, joining the trio of Ben Chatwin, Jacob Krzciok and Nick Wamsley.
Sam Curran of Toledo, Ohio will look to fortify what was already a strong breaststroke crew last season. He enters the program with lifetime bests of 57.44 and 2:05.10 in the 100 and 200, respectively.
Kristian Kowalski, a diver from Mansfield, Ohio, brings experience in 1-meter and 3-meter competition.
Women
Bryanna Renuart, a native of Stow, Ohio, comes to the RedHawks with a 100 breaststroke time (1:05.64) that puts her very close to scoring range in the MAC.
Alex Knutte, a backstroker and sprint freestyler from Darien, Ill., also brings near-scoring times in the 200 back (2:05.51) and 200 free (1:53.26).
Becca Prangley comes to Miami from nearby Wyoming, Ohio. Prangley, the daughter of Miami alumni, will swim breaststroke and sprint freestyle for the RedHawks.
Sarah DeLoach of Fairfax, Va., is also the daughter of Miami alumni. She will specialize in breaststroke and IM.
