OXFORD, Ohio ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃÆ'¢'¬" For their performances last week, redshirt junior golfer Brian Ohr and senior outfielder Megan Wurts are Miami Athletes of the Week for the week of March 12-18.
Ohr won his first career collegiate tournament, finishing at one-under for a one stroke victory at the Colleton River Collegiate last week. Ohr opened with a two-under par 70 i his first round before falling back to a 77 in the second. He then rebounded with a tournament low four-under par 68 in the third round to come from behind and take the championship. He helped lead the RedHawks to a tie for second as a team at Colleton River.
This is the first time this season and fifth time in his career that Ohr has been named Miami's Male Athlete of the Week. He last won it for the week of March 6-12, 2017.
Wurts led the RedHawks in the batter's box this weekend at the Miami Invitational as Miami went 3-2. Wurts hit .563, totaling nine hits on the weekend, five of those being extra-base hits and two homeruns. She tallied 10 RBI's, 20 total bases, four walks, a slugging percentage of 1.250 and an on-base percentage of .667.
This is the first time this season and in her career that Wurts has been named Miami's Female Athlete of the Week.
The next Miami Athletes of the Week will be announced on Monday, March 26.
