
Women's MAC Championship Preview

OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University women’s swimming and diving team travels to Ohio University for the Mid-American Conference Championships from Wednesday, Feb. 21 through Saturday, Feb. 24.
On Wednesday evening, athletes will compete for the 200 Medley Relay and the 800 Freestyle Relay. On all other days, preliminary heats will begin at 10:30 a.m. and finals will begin at 6:30 p.m., with diving preliminaries happening on Thursday and Friday at 2:45 p.m. The first heat of the 1650 Freestyle time finals will begin at 4:50 p.m. on Saturday.
The RedHawks were picked to finish fourth in the league’s preseason poll. Miami enters the MAC Championships with a 4-4 record in dual meets and a first-place finish in the Miami Invitational.
Miami won its 17th championship in program history during the 2012-13 season. In 2017, the RedHawks finished fourth at MAC Championships while Akron came out on top.
OPPONENTS
Akron: The Zips are the unanimous favorite to win the MAC Championship, according to the preseason poll. Akron is 5-1 in dual meets this season, 3-1 against conference opponents. The Zips won the Zippy Invitational and the Magnus Cup Invitational.
Ball State: The Cardinals are 3-4 in dual meets this season, 0-3 against MAC opponents. Ball State competed against Toledo and Miami outside of dual-meet format, falling to both teams. The Cardinals finished sixth at the Miami Invitational.
Bowling Green: The Falcons finished the season 4-4 in dual meets and 1-3 against conference opponents. The swimmers placed third at the Zippy Invitational and the divers won the Buffalo Diving Meet.
Buffalo: The Bulls went undefeated in dual meets this season (8-0), four of those wins coming against MAC teams. Buffalo finished second at the Zippy Invitational.
Eastern Michigan: The Eagles are 8-1 in dual meets this season, 4-0 against conference opponents. Eastern Michigan won the EMU Invitational.
Ohio: The Bobcats finished the season 3-3 in dual meets, 2-2 against MAC opponents. Ohio placed third at the TYR Invite.
Toledo: The Rockets are 4-7 in dual meets this season, 1-3 against conference opponents. Toledo finished in fifth place at the Zippy Invitational.
