OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University women's basketball team (6-1) beat Cincinnati (5-5) by a 78-65 margin on Wednesday.
Lauren Dickerson had a season-high 22 points while
Nia Clark and
Savannah Kluesner also scored in double digits with 16 and 14 points, respectively. The RedHawks shot 54 percent from the floor.
The RedHawks held the Bearcats off the scoreboard for the first two minutes of play with stout defense before Cincinnati cut Miami's lead to 4-2. Dickerson made a couple of buckets before Kluesner came up with a block to keep Miami's momentum.

After four minutes of play, the RedHawks led 8-4. Clark scored her second of the day, a three-pointer, to put Miami ahead by four before Cincinnati tied it at 13 with less than three to play in the first quarter. Dickerson and
Kendall McCoy drained back-to-back shots from behind the arc to give the 'Hawks an 18-15 lead at the media timeout with 1:01 remaining in the first quarter.

Miami led Cincinnati 23-17 after 10 minutes of play. Dickerson had 10 points in the first 10 minutes.
Kristen Levering and Clark helped the RedHawks begin the second quarter on a 10-5 run with a pair of shots from behind the arc.

Dickerson was perfect from the field during the first 14 minutes of play, hitting three from long range and totaling 15 points. Dickerson continued to shine through the second quarter, scoring 18 points during the first half, including a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the arc. Miami led Cincinnati 43-28 at the half.
The RedHawks and Bearcats went back-and-forth to begin the second half. Kluesner scored three points before completing a three-point play with six minutes remaining in the quarter to give Miami a 51-36 lead.

Clark hit double figures for the third time this season with her third from behind the arc against Cincinnati. Clark increased Miami's lead to 54-40 with three and a half minutes left in the third quarter. With 2:14 left in the quarter, Dickerson hit the 20-point mark for the first time this season with a driving basket.

Miami led 58-47 after three quarters of play. The teams traded a pair of baskets as the RedHawks continued to lead by double figures. Miami also had a strong presence on defense with Clark leading the way with three steals.

The Red and White continued to lead in double figures with a 68-55 lead midway through the fourth quarter, increasing the lead to 20 points before Cincinnati capped scoring with a 7-0 run.
Miami travels to Valparaiso for a game on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
