'Hawks selected to finish eighth.
CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference released its 2018 indoor track and field preseason poll Monday.
The Miami women's team was tabbed by league's coaches to finish eighth in the MAC as the 'Hawks tallied 67 votes in the poll. This comes a year after the RedHawks finished tenth in the 2017-18 Mid-American Conference Championships.
Akron was selected to finish first in the MAC, while defending champions Eastern Michigan came in second. The full results of the poll can be found below.Â
The RedHawks are already underway in their 2018-19 campaign after competing at the Bowling Green opener Saturday. The event was highlighted by a 400 meter win from Olivia Bechtel, who will join Kalliopi Kountouri and Emily Hooker to form a solid core of sprinters for the team. In the field, Emily Fletchall won the all-Miami pole vault while Jaime Handra and Hannah Falcione turned in solid performances in the jumps.
