GOTHENBURG, Sweden - Miami's senior synchronized skating team wrapped up its second international assignment of the month by capturing bronze at the Leon Lurje Trophy on Sunday.
The RedHawks recorded a free skate score of 98.66 with their Showgirls theme, which finished in third for the day. That score paired with Saturday's short program tally to combine for a 156.84 as Miami finished third to pick up a bronze for the second-straight international assignment.
"Overall, I am very pleased with the team's performance this weekend," head coach Carla DeGirolamo said. "I thought they skated an outstanding short program with much improved power and unison. Unfortunately, our free skate had a couple mistakes that impacted the score, but there were a lot of really nice elements to it as well. I thought they had excellent performance and attack in both programs and we are excited to prepare for nationals in three weeks."
This weekend represents the senior team's final competition prior to nationals (Feb. 22-24). Both the senior and collegiate programs will perform during first intermission at Miami's hockey games against Western Michigan next weekend.
