Miami Men Take 4th at Vandy, Women 7th

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Miami University cross country turned in another solid outing in their second week of the season Saturday. The men's team grabbed a fourth-place finish amidst a competitive 15-team field while the women took seventh of 17 teams.
One week after his brother, Christopher, was the top Miami runner, Sean Torpy led the `Hawks by finishing fourth overall. The sophomore recorded a 25:08.3, comfortably topping his previous PR by 35 seconds. Senior Ben Metzger was the next-best runner for the RedHawks with a 25:45.3 that earned him 22nd place.
Two more RedHawks, David Coffey and Jake Brumfield, rounded out the top-30. Coffey, a sophomore, recorded a 25:49.4 while the senior Brumfield turned in a 25:52.4.
The women were once again paced by senior Maria Scavuzzo. She placed 16th with a 17:56. It was sophomore Carly Davis and senior Alesha Vovk - finishing 21st and 26th, respectively - rounded out the top-30 to ensure a seventh-place finish for the women's team.
The Red and White will be back in Oxford next week for the RedHawk Rumble. It will be their first home meet since 2014.
