May 31, 2017 OXFORD, Ohio ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃÆ'¢'¬" Miami University Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Support Services Craig Bennett has hired Breanna Robinson as Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Academic Support.
Robinson, a 2008 and 2011 graduate of Miami University, returns to Oxford after spending the past two years as Toledo Central Catholic High School's Assistant Athletic Director. While with Toledo Central Catholic, she educated prospective and current student-athletes, parents and coaches about Ohio High School Athletic Association rules and compliance, assisted students with NCAA Eligibility Center registration while providing guidance about eligibility requirements and met with coaches to evaluate program goals. She also advised the Student-Athlete Advisory Council and sought leadership development opportunities for the over 300 student-athletes of the school.
"Breanna is one of the most remarkable people I have ever known," Bennett said. "Her poise, charisma and commitment were evident as a Miami student-athlete and continues into her professional career. She will be remarkable in helping shape the character, academic potential and leadership skills in our student-athletes. Bre epitomizes what Love and Honor and Graduating Champions represents to Miami University."
Prior to her time at Toledo, Robinson served as the Academic Coordinator at Georgia Tech, working directly with the Yellow Jackets' men's basketball and women's volleyball programs. She facilitated weekly study halls for the men's basketball team, provided support for student-athletes with learning disabilities and improved her teams' grade-point averages by at least one-tenth of a point while she worked with them.
After graduating from Miami in 2008, Robinson remained in Oxford for graduate school and worked as an Academic Coordinator and Learning Specialist during the 2010-11 school year after serving as a Supplemental Instruction and Workshops Graduate assistant during 2009-10. She coordinated freshmen orientation and Miami's Summer Bridge Program, worked with Disability Services and the Scholastic Enhancement Program on accommodations of students with learning disability and also tutored student-athletes with learning disabilities directly.
A four-year letter winner for the RedHawks' softball team during her undergraduate, Robinson holds the program's single-season record in RBIs (51) and is tied for the single-season home run record (11), both of which were achieved as a senior in 2008. She ended her career ranked second in school history with 20 career home runs as she was a First-Team All-Mid-American Conference and All-Region selection that season.
Robinson graduated from Miami with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Sport Studies in 2008 and earned a Master of Science in Exercise and Health Studies from Miami in 2011. She is working towards a Doctorate of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration from Bowling Green, which she is expecting to attain in 2019.
