FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The RedHawk baseball team fell to 0-2 on the season after suffering a 5-1 loss to Arkansas on Saturday afternoon at Baum Stadium.
Like Friday, Arkansas capitalized on a scoring chance in the first inning. With two down and a runner on third, a single through the right side gave the Razorbacks a 1-0 lead after one frame.
The Hogs extended their margin in the home half of the third. A two-run double and a one-run single had the score at 4-0 in favor of Arkansas after three innings of play.
Miami got on the board in the top of the fourth when Ross Haffey turned on the first pitch he saw, driving it over the wall in left center, his first home run of the season. The solo shot narrowed the Razorback lead to 4-1. Arkansas quickly regained its four-run edge in the home half of the inning, scoring on a fielder's choice to make it 5-1 after four.
The RedHawks were unable to rally late as the Razorback bullpen held strong down the stretch once again.
Miami and Arkansas close out the series on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET. The game can be seen live on SECNetwork+ and ESPN3, as long as SEC Network is part of your TV package.
