
RedHawks Mount Comeback to Take 3rd at GVSU

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Miami University track and field team finished third with 96 points after a multitude of impressive performances in their second day at the GVSU Big Meet. The women's team grabbed second overall, while the men's team placed fifth. Four RedHawks won their events to complete a very successful weekend for the Red and White.
The 200m saw freshman Olivia Bechtel finishing first in the 200m with a 25.08. Alexus Jimson-Miller followed up her first-place finish in Friday's 60m hurdle invite with a first place finish in the 60m hurdle open division. The senior turned in an 8.42 in Saturday's final. The final first-place winner was Arionna Darling in shot put. The senior recorded a put of 49-4.25.
Sophomore Arissa Freeman began the day by taking third in the 60m dash open division with a 7.77. For the men, freshman Jerimiah Hunter placed first with a 6.87 in the 60m open.
Three RedHawks all finished in a row in the 800m open. Sophomore Alexis Szivan (2:19.65), freshman Rachel Kotchman (2:19.99), and junior Allison Klonne (2:20.27) finished ninth, tenth, and eleventh, respectfully.
Freshmen Carly Davis and Claire Linn each placed in the top ten in the one mile. Davis took third with a 5:02.48, while Linn clocked a 5:11.21. The men also had a good one mile, as junior Matthew Bromley's 4:14.96 led to a third-place finish.
The RedHawk jumpers - both men and women - had a nice day as well. Freshman Hannah Falcione finished sixth in the women's open triple jump with a 36-5.75. Junior Kenny Glenn represented the men with a third-place long jump of 21-11.5.
The `Hawks have just one meet left before the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships. Their last tune-up is the Alex Wilson Invitational from February 17-18.
