ANN ARBOR, Mich. – A midseason precursor to the national championships got underway for the Miami synchronized skating team as it began competition at the 22nd Annual Dr. Richard Porter Classic on Friday night.

The RedHawks’ competition got underway as the senior team performed their short program and put up a score of 55.04, a total that sits second behind the Skyliners’ 58.68. Miami’s component score of 29.24 led all five teams in the competition.

Miami’s senior team wraps up its weekend on Saturday when it goes fourth in the free skate competition, which is slated to start at 7:04 p.m.
