Koenig had a career-high eight tackles and three tackles for loss in last Saturday's contest versus Western Kentucky. Koenig added one pass breakup and a fumble recovery against the Hilltoppers. This is the first time this season and in his career that Koenig has been named Miami's Male Athlete of the Week.
McDonald was a defensive machine in leading the RedHawks to two wins this past week. She recorded 37 digs on the week, despite Miami winning both matches in straight sets. That gave her an incredible average of 6.17 digs per set. She finished with 17 in the victory at rival Cincinnati on Wednesday, and upped that to 20 digs in three sets in a win over Furman Friday. When targeted on the serve she was perfect, committing no errors in 26 reception attempts.
This is the first time this season and second time in her career that McDonald has been named Miami's Female Athlete of the Week. She previously won it for the week of Aug. 31-Sept. 6, 2015.
The next Miami Athletes of the Week will be announced on Monday, Sept. 26.
