Football
Last Week: The Miami football team fell 21-17 to Eastern Illinois. In the loss Billy Bahl threw for 250 yards and two touchdowns and Alonzo Smith ran for 98 yards. (Recap) This Week: Miami will host Western Kentucky this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. inside Yager Stadium.
Soccer
Last Week: The Miami soccer team split its final weekend of non-conference play. On Friday night, the RedHawks withstood multiple lightning delays, being outshot 17-7 and double overtime to outlast Illinois on the strength of freshman Olivia Winnett's goal in the 102nd minute, her second overtime winner of the season. Vic Maniaci made eight saves in goal to pick up her second-straight shutout. (Recap) The Red and White hosted Texas in their first ever meeting with the Longhorns on Sunday. UT scored just 4:52 into the contest and added an insurance goal in the 74th minute to top MU by a 2-0 count to down Miami to 3-4 on the season. (Recap) This Week: Miami is idle until Sept. 23, when it opens up MAC play against Akron at Miami Soccer Field.
Volleyball
Last Week: The Miami University volleyball team (6-4 overall) had a perfect 4-0 week, including winning the Auburn Invitational over the weekend. Senior outside hitter Maris Below was named Tournament MVP, while junior outside hitter Katie Tomasic and junior libero Maeve McDonald joined her on the All-Tournament Team. Miami had a successful home opener, defeating Xavier, 3-1 (25-20, 16-25, 26-24, 25-15) on Tuesday. (Recap) The RedHawks got the Auburn Invitational off to a rousing start with a dominant, 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-22) win over Jacksonville Friday morning. (Recap) was behind in nearly every set, and at one point fought off three match points, but showed a lot of heart to come all the way back and earn a thrilling, 3-2 (17-25, 25-22, 26-28, 26-24, 15-11) victory over the host Auburn Tigers Friday evening. (Recap) The Red and White became the Auburn Invitational champions with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-15) victory over Memphis on Saturday. (Recap) This Week: The RedHawks hit the road for a midweek contest at Cincinnati on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Miami then returns home to host Furman on Friday at 7 p.m. as part of homecoming week.
Field Hockey
Last Week: Miami (3-4 overall) split two games this week. Another hat-trick from sophomore midfielder Paula Portugal and a stellar defensive performance led the RedHawks to a 4-0 victory over New Hampshire on Friday. (Recap) Miami had a strong performance against Ohio State, but an overtime goal gave the Buckeyes a 2-1 win in Columbus on Sunday. (Recap) This Week: The RedHawks return to action on Sunday with another big challenge as they host second ranked Duke at 1 p.m.
Golf
Last Week: The Miami golf team opened its season with an 11th place finish at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate. Redshirt sophomore Brian Ohr was the top individual finisher for the RedHawks, tying for 26th at six-over par. (Saturday Recap) (Sunday Recap) This Week: Miami is idle this week. The RedHawks return to action Sept. 19-20 when they travel to Toledo for the Inverness
