OXFORD, Ohio -Miami University has named Kiarra Square as its new Assistant Director of Athletic Events and Guest Services.
Square joins Miami after spending the past two years as a sales and events manager at Stars and Strikes in Sandy Springs, Ga. While at Stars and Strikes, she incorporated on-site tours and online outreach to increase sales by 14 percent. She also created and managed event schedules, banquet event orders and staffing for all events. Additionally, Square hired, trained and supervised employees and managed her department's budget, inventory and purchase orders.
"We're excited to welcome Kiarra to the team," Director of Athletic Events & Facilities Management Stephanie Davis said. "She brings a wealth of special events and guest services experience from a variety of industries which will fully undergird our program."
Prior to her time at Stars and Strikes, Square spent the 2014 baseball season working in special events with the Atlanta Braves. She created and executed the team's first Zombie Night, served as the Braves' liaison at promotional tradeshows and managed logistics for other non-baseball events.
"I would like to thank the Miami Athletics search committee for the opportunity to join the RedHawks' team," Square said. "It is an honor and I am excited to serve the Miami community to help enhance guest experience within athletic events."
During her time in graduate school at Georgia State, Square served as a graduate assistant in the marketing department for the recreational services department, where she created promotional content and managed all department social media accounts, increasing their following by 23 percent. She also handled marketing for events while also managing partnerships and promotions. She also spent time as a marketing and external affairs assistant in the office of the lieutenant governor.
Square graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in marketing in 2011 and earned a Master of Science in sport administration in 2013.
