OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University Athletic Development staff has filled out with the hire of Nick Smith as Assistant Director of Development.
Smith, a 2014 Miami University graduate, returns to Oxford after spending the past two years with the Bobcat Club at Ohio University.
"Nick Smith is a Miami alumnus and a rising star in college athletics development, and we are excited to welcome him back to our team," Associate Athletic Director/Senior Director of Development Coleman Barnes said. "As a former intern for the Red & White Club, he always went above and beyond to get the job done. His work ethic, coupled with his recent success at Ohio University, has positioned him for tremendous success as we continue to look for difference makers to support the Graduating Champions Campaign."
During his time at Ohio, Smith led all facets of football premium seating and secured nearly $100,000 in renewals and new business. He also handled portfolio of roughly 100 season ticket and annual fund prospects and donors, oversaw the athletic director's pregame receptions for major gift prospects and donors, handled sales and stewardship of men's basketball courtside seats and devised a lapsed donor program. He also organized football locker room dedication and built donor based seating chart information for football and basketball.
"It is an honor to come back to my alma mater to support the Graduating Champions Campaign," Smith said. "I cannot thank the Ohio University Sports Administration program and the Ohio Bobcat Club enough for the two tremendous years I had in Athens. I look forward to connecting with our RedHawk donors, alumni and fans across the country."
While serving as an athletic development intern at Miami, Smith spearheaded the 2013 and 2014 Miami Coaches Caravans, identified over $200,000 in hockey and men's basketball donor based seating gifts in 2012 and 2013, directed the athletic director's suite at football and hockey for two seasons and generated revenue for hockey donor based seating gifts in 2014.
Smith graduated from Miami with a Bachelor of Science in Finance in 2014 and received his MBA and Master's in Sports Administration from Ohio in 2016.
