RedHawks Finish Strong At Jesse Owens Classic and Virginia Challenge

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Miami University track and field program closed out action at the Jesse Owens Classic and the Virginia Challenge on Saturday.
A highlight of the day was the 400m hurdles where Kathie Wollney turned in a season-best 59.92 to finish fourth. Fellow RedHawk Morgan Rice clocked in at 1:02.41 for 12th, she also ran the 100m hurdles and finished in 14.81 for 28th. On the men's side, Vinnie Minosky finished ninth on a time of 53.71. Aaron Muresan was 16th in 55.48 in his collegiate outdoor debut race. In the 100m hurdles, Alexus Jimson Miller took fourth in 13.79. Wollney's time locks her into third in the Mid-American Conference Standings.
In the 800m, Joey Comisford finished 10th with a time of 1:52.94. For the women, Meagan Beaver posted a time of 2:12.40 for 11th while Alexis Szivan was 15th with a time of 2:13.21. Comisford's time gives him the eighth spot in the conference rankings.
At 400m, Kalliopi Kountouri clocked in at 56.48 for ninth. In the men's race, Jake Owens took 12th in 49.09 and Adam Bodrick was 22nd crossing the line in 50.09. Owens was 15th in the 200m coming in at 21.88.
In the 100m, Kenny Glenn clocked in at 10.88 for 22nd overall. For the women, Briah Owens finished in 12.23 for 24th place.
In field action, Glenn marked 23-1.75 in the long jump pit finishing sixth. Fellow RedHawk Grant Cole marked 22-11.25 for ninth.
Peter Stefanski tied for second in the men's high jump after he cleared 6-9.75. The women's contest saw Jess Baker clear 5-4.25 to tie for ninth. Fellow Redhawk Molly Balcer was 14th on attempts after also clearing 5-4.25. In the pole vault, Hope Turner finished ninth with a clearance of 11-11.75.
In throwing action, Zubin Coleman marked 171-7 for 14th in the hammer.
In relay action, the men's 4x100m squad of Bodrick, J. Owens, M. Owens and Glenn clocked in at 42.18 for fourth on the day. The women's 4x400m of Jimson-Miller, Kountouri, Szivan and Beaver clocked in at 3:51.82 for seventh.
Over at the Virginia Challenge, Danielle Collier threw in the women's javelin marking 129-2 for seventh. Ashely Frahm marked 45-0.25 for eighth in the women's shot put.
The Red and White will be back in action at the Rider Track next weekend for the RedHawk Invitational.
