Miami in 15th at Lone Star Invitational

SAN ANTONIO - The Miami University golf team is in 15th place at the conclusion of the first two rounds of the Lone Star Invitational on Monday. The RedHawks posted a 16-over par round of 304 in the first round and followed with a 28-over par round of 316 in the second. The Red and White finished 44-over on the day. In a tightly bunched field, they are only nine shots out of seventh place. New Mexico leads the event at three-over par.
Leading Miami was sophomore Patrick Flavin who began his day with an even-par round of 72 to find himself tied for sixth place after round one. His second round produced a four-over round of 76, resulting in a tie for 15th after one day of competition. The sophomore has hit eight birdies and ranks second among all players in par-5 scoring with a 4.13 average.
Senior Jack Sparling fired a two-over round of 74 in the opening round and was tied for 17th before a 10-over round of 82 moved him to a tie for 52nd place. Sparling is on the leaderboard for pars with 24 through one day.
Redshirt freshman Brian Ohr also recorded a four-over round of 76 in the opener. He followed with a nine-over round of 81 and sits at tied for 61st place. Ohr ranks third among all players with a 3.00 par-3 average.
Junior Greg Conrad began his day with a 10-over round of 82 but bounced back with a five-over round of 77 to go into the third round tied for 73rd place. Senior Bud Radis started with a 13-over round of 85 before recording an 11-over round of 83. He is currently tied for 98th.
Playing as an individual, senior Bailey Truesdell opened with a six-over round of 78 and finished the day with an 11-over round of 83 to enter Tuesday tied for 79th. Also unattached, senior Daniel Schwarz recorded an eight-over par round of 80 before placing a 10-over round of 82. Schwarz is tied for 83rd place.
