RICHMOND, Ohio - Saturday's contest between Miami and Richmond saw a reversal of Friday's game as the Spiders' bats came alive on the way to a 10-3 victory over the RedHawks at Pitt Field.
Miami grabbed the game's first runs in the top off the second. With one out recorded, Hayden Senger ripped a single up the middle. Then, Jake Romano reached on a fielder's choice as Senger was eliminated from the base paths. However, Romano got himself into scoring position by stealing second, which proved to be fruitful as Adam Yacek singled through the left side. With his speed, Romano was able to score from second and give Miami a 1-0 lead after one and a half.
The Spiders came out firing in the home half of the third. A bases loaded walk and a two-run single to right center thrusted them in front, 3-1, after three innings of play.
Richmond added three more runs to their total in the fifth, scoring on a one-run double to center, a wild pitch and a infield single to short. After five, the Spiders held a 6-1 edge over Miami.
In the bottom of the fifth, Richmond widened their lead again. A triple to the gap in right drove in two and moved the Spiders' lead to 8-1 through five.
The Spiders kept it going in the sixth, adding another two spot. A two-run triple allowed Richmond to grab a 10-1 lead through six frames.
The game's next runs did not come until the top of the ninth with two outs as Miami would not go down without a fight. Sada belted a triple down the right field line that scored Romano. Then, Tyler Harris earned an infield single, which allowed Sada to score. However, the two out rally fell short as Miami fell, 10-3.
Miami and Richmond get back on the diamond Sunday with the series up for grabs. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
