OXFORD, Ohio -- For their performances last week sophomore golfer Patrick Flavin and the senior junior diver Pei Lin are Miami's Athletes of the Week for the week of March 7-13.
Flavin was named MAC Men's Golfer of the Week after shooting a 72-74-74 four-over par at Colleton River, finishing tied for fourth place. Flavin was just two strokes off the lead after the first round, leading all MAC golfers in par-3 scoring (2.75) and was tied for second among conference competitors in birdies with three. Flavin held his own among the pack with a two-over round of 74 in the second round to finish the first day tied for fourth place. He would fire another round of 74 in the third round to secure a fourth-place tie.
This is the second time this season and time time in his career that Flavin has been named Miami's Male Athlete of the Week. He last won it for the week of Sept. 28-Oct. 4.
Lin is headed back to the NCAA Championships after winning the one- and three-meter dives at the Zone C Diving event in Purdue's Boilermaker Aquatic Center last weekend. Lin qualified for the one-meter dive on Friday, winning with a score of 319.30. On Saturday she scored 401.35 in the three-meter dive, winning the event. The NCAA meet will take place from Thursday, March 17 to Saturday, March 19 in Atlanta, Ga.
This is the first time this season and third time in her career that Lin has been named Miami's Female Athlete of the Week. She last won it for the week of March 16-22, 2015.
The next Miami Athletes of the Week will be announced Monday, March 21.
