OXFORD, Ohio - In the spirit of the holiday season, Miami University Athletics will be offering several opportunities for fans to get involved in donating items to those less fortunate. The Red & White's 'Give Back' games this coming weekend include both Friday and Saturday hockey games, as well as the men's and women's basketball games on Saturday.
FRIDAY
Hockey | 7:35 p.m.
Friday's series-opening game against Colorado College will feature a teddy bear toss, where fans can bring any sort of stuffed animal to toss out onto the ice during the first intermission. All of the items will be collected and donated to the local Goodwill. Back in February, the team's teddy bear toss resulted in 581 stuffed animals being donated to local children in need and Goodwill.
SATURDAY
Women's/Men's Basketball | 1/3:30 p.m.
Saturday's tripleheader begins with women's basketball taking on Northwood at 1 p.m. Fans are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items, which will be donated to the Oxford Community Choice Pantry. Items will be collected at the marketing table at the south entrance, as well as the handicapped (lower northwest) entrance. Fans who donate will have their name put in a drawing for the opportunity to win Miami prizes. Winners will be announced during halftime of the men's game, which is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
Hockey | 7:05 p.m.
The weekend's 'Give Back' games will conclude with the Saturday hockey series finale against the Tigers. Fans can bring any toys they wish to donate to local children and Goodwill. Collection bins will be located with the ushers who are scanning tickets near both entrances to the arena.
