11/7/2016 12:00:00 AM | Hockey
Nov. 7, 2016 Miami University Athletics will be hosting a program called "Be The Match" on Friday, November 11 prior to home volleyball and ice hockey contests. The program is aimed at boosting the ranks of potential marrow donors on the Be The Match Registry. Those that register at volleyball (7 p.m. start) will get into the match for free and registers at ice hockey (7:35 p.m. start) will receive free gear.
Thousands of people with leukemia, lymphoma and other life-threatening diseases depend on the Be The Match Registry to find a match, that can help give a second chance at life.
Those that joins the Be The Match registry will be required to fill out a quick registration form and get a cotton swab from the mouth to determine a tissue type. Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 44 years old. The entire process takes around five minutes.
Attendance to the sporting events is not mandatory to register for Be The Match. Walkups are welcome.
