Miami Men and Women Fall to Purdue

WEST LAYFETTE, Ind. ââ'¬" Miami University's men's and women's swimming and diving teams traveled to Purdue on Friday night.
Unfortunately, the men lost by a score of 201.5-93.5 and the women fell 174-124, moving both team records to 1-1.
Lucas Brock led the way for the men, picking up a win in the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.50), while Ross Westrick clocked in third (1:44.21). Brock claimed third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.19.
James Wray had an impressive meet against the Boilermakers, earning second place in both the 100-yard backstroke (50.68) and 200-yard backstroke (1:53.06). He also led the 200-yard medley relay team to a third-place finish (1:34.546), teaming up with Nicholas Wukovits, Rob Newman and Nick Ward.
Other top-three finishes by RedHawk men included Justin Andrews placing second in the 1000-yard freestyle (9:43.46), Ross Rybakowicz touching the wall third in the 200-yard butterfly (1:57.17) and Wukovits with a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (57.17). Newman swam a tight race, tying for second with a Purdue swimmer, with a time of 51.44.
On the women's side, Pei Lin seems to have pick up right where she left off last season, winning both the three-meter (384.30) and one-meter dive (326.33).
Stephanie LeMire found herself in the winning lane again, capturing the 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.15). Holly Schuster was right behind her, finishing second with a time of 2:19.11. LeMire also claimed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.69) and in the 200-yard medley relay (1:44.80), matching with Izzy Herb, Morgan Quesnel and Elise Campbell.
Other victorious RedHawk women included Ella Moynihan in the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.06) and Herb in the 100-yard backstroke (56.54). Moynihan also placed second in the 500-yard freestyle (4:58.62), while Herb took silver in the 200-yard backstroke (2:01.00).
The Red & White were successful in the 1000-yard freestyle, finishing second and third with Emma Bradley (10:21.44) and Shay Spelman (10:25.79), respectively. Logan Klinsky also cracked the top three in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing third in 52.46.
The Miami men and women have a quick turnaround, as they are back at home on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. to take on Xavier.
