Basketball Teams Hold Successful Midnight Madness Event

OXFORD, Ohio -- The Miami University basketball teams celebrated the upcoming 2016-17 season with their annual Midnight Madness event at the Uptown Park in Oxford late Saturday evening. A full photo gallery and video recap of the event can be seen above.
Hosted by MC extraordinaire Phillip Duckett, both the men's and women's teams were introduced to the crowd. The women's team put on a relay competition, while the men's team had a dunk contest. The teams competed against each other in a three-point shootout, eventually won by men's redshirt sophomore guard Jake Wright.
Both the men's and women's basketball teams will hold their opening practice on Monday. The women will be in action for an exhibition game on Saturday, Nov. 5 when they host Ohio Dominican at 2 p.m. The men's team does not have an exhibition game this season, but it opens the season at home against Muskingum on Friday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m.
