Strength and Conditioning Hires Campbell and Armer

OXFORD, Ohio-Miami University Athletics added Chase Campbell and Ben Armer to the strength and conditioning staff as assistant strength and conditioning coaches.
Campbell works with Miami's men's and women's basketball programs as well as the women's tennis team and the throws specialist from men's and women's track and field. Armer works with the RedHawk golf and women's swimming programs. In addition to assisting with football, Armer also will oversee strength and conditioning for the men's and women's divers and sprinters, jump and multiple event specialists from men's and women's track and field.
"Chase brings a great depth of knowledge," said Director of Strength and Conditioning Paul Harker. "His past experiences working with top level basketball athletes as well as his personal experience as a competitive weight lifter will absolutely bolster our staff and serve to benefit all of the athletes he will work with."
Campbell comes to Miami after a brief stint as an intern with Vanderbilt working with its men's basketball program. No stranger to the Mid-American Conference, Campbell earned both his undergraduate and master's degrees from Ball State University in 2013 and 2015, respectively.
He finished up a two-year stint as a strength and conditioning graduate assistant with the Cardinals in May, where he worked with baseball, softball and gymnastics teams as well as assisting with the men's basketball and volleyball programs. During the summer of 2014, Campbell served as a strength and conditioning intern with the Indiana Pacers. He also interned at Ball State his final semester as an undergrad.
"We are extremely excited about bringing Ben on board," said Harker. "His past experience as a student-athlete in the MAC as well as his knowledge base will make him a great asset to the RedHawk family and all of the athletes he will work with."
Armer joins Miami after serving as a graduate assistant at Ball State where he worked with the women's basketball and football programs. Prior to his time with the Cardinals, Armer was an intern-assistant for strength and conditioning at Western Michigan University from September 2013 to February 2014, working with football. He also served in this role in summer 2012.
In addition to serving as a personal trainer at West Hills Athletic Club in Kalamazoo, Mich., for nearly two years, Armer also spent a year as head strength and conditioning coach and an assistant football coach at Gull Lake High School in Richland, Mich. An All-MAC punter for the Broncos, he earned his bachelor's degree in from Western Michigan in 2012 and is in the midst of finishing his master's degree from Ball State.
"These two hires will help us continue the department's mission to graduate champions," added Harker. "Their backgrounds and knowledge help allow us to prepare our student-athletes to be their best."
