OXFORD, Ohio – For their performances last week golf freshman Patrick Flavin softball junior pitcher Amber Logemann are Miami’s Athletes of the Week connected by Frontier Communications for the week of March 23-29.
At the largest non-NCAA Championship tournament in college golf, Flavin led Miami to a seventh place finish out of 30 teams at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate this week. He had the best performance of his young career as he tied for second at even par out of 159 total golfers. That includes shooting rounds of 68 in both the first and third rounds, his career-low round. That performance earned him MAC Men’s Golfer of the Week honors. Flavin is averaging a team best 73.04 strokes per round in 24 total rounds this season.
This is the first time this season and in his career that Flavin has been named Miami’s Male Athlete of the Week.
Logemann had an incredible week in which she led Miami to three victories and a perfect 2-0 start in MAC play. She allowed only one earned run in 17.2 innings pitched for an ERA of 0.40. Logemann allowed only eight hits total in that stretch for a batting average against of .125. She struck out 19 on the week. On Tuesday she gave up only one run in a complete game 5-1 victory over Western Illinois. She allowed only three hits and struck out four. Against Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Logemann allowed only two unearned runs in 6.2 innings pitched, coming back in late to secure the victory in the extra inning win. She allowed only three hits total and struck out 12. She came into the game in relief on Sunday and shut out the Eagles the rest of the way, earning the victory after allowing only two hits in 4.0 innings pitched.
This is the first time this season and in her career that Logemann has been named Miami’s Female Athlete of the Week.
