OXFORD, Ohio – For their performances last week hockey senior Blake Coleman and sophomore diver Pei Lin are Miami’s Athletes of the Week connected by Frontier Communications for the week of March 9-15.
Coleman was the catalyst in Miami's three-game series triumph over Western Michigan in the NCHC Playoffs over the weekend. The senior forward led the RedHawks with eight points on four goals and four assists. He opened the series with a four-point night on two goals and two assists, netting the game-winning goal midway through the third period. Coleman followed that up by notching two points in each of the next two games. His performance over the weekend also made him the 50th member of Miami's 100-career point club.
This is the second time this season and third time in his career that Baumgartner has been named Miami’s Male Athlete of the Week. He last won it for the week of Nov. 17-24, 2014.
Lin won both the one- and three-meter events at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships to qualify for the NCAA Championships this weekend (March 19-21) in Greensboro, N.C. With a score of 367.00 in the preliminaries of the three-meter event, Lin broke her own school record. She posted a score of 349.75 in the finals for a combined score of 716.75. Lin also won the one-meter dive, recording a score of 329.25 in the preliminaries and a 322.50 in the finals for a combined score of 652.00. Since joining the RedHawk program in January, Lin has not lost an event in which she has participated.
This is the first time her career that Lin has been named Miami’s Female Athlete of the Week.
