OXFORD, Ohio – Student-athletes throughout Miami University have spent over 600 hours serving the community in a variety of ways during the 2014-15 academic year.
The RedHawks’ efforts involve experiences such as cooking meals and playing with children at the Ronald McDonald House, spending time with kids at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital through Swoop’s Stoop and bringing toys to Butler County families in need through the “Bring Joy to a Child” initiative. Miami student-athletes also lent a helping hand at local school carnivals, First-Year Move-In Day, Miami Makos swim meets, Oxford’s Annual Pig Roast, various youth sports clinics and Matthew 25 Ministries in Cincinnati.
Miami’s goal of graduating champions extends beyond the field of competition and the classroom. Through their involvement in the community, the RedHawks are positively affecting lives in a variety of ways and further developing as well-rounded citizens and shaping themselves as quality leaders in the present and future.
