Baseball Pegged Preseason Second in MAC East

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference released their preseason coach’s poll Tuesday and Miami was tabbed second in the MAC East Division.
The RedHawks earned 59 votes total, tallying three first-place votes. Both are good enough for third-most in the preseason poll. Kent State (68 votes) earned the top spot in the division. Akron (41 votes), Bowling Green (38), Buffalo (27) and Ohio (19) rounded out the East Division.
In the West Division, Ball State stands at the top of the poll (67 Votes). Central Michigan (55), Western Michigan (46), Toledo (43), Eastern Michigan (23) and Nothern Illinois (18) wrapped up the West Division.
Teams Receiving First Place Votes: Kent State (8), Ball State (8), Miami (3), Central Michigan (2), Western Michigan (1), Bowling Green (1) and Toledo (1).
Seven of the 12 MAC schools received votes to win the MAC Tournament. Kent State led the way with three votes. Miami, Central Michigan and Ball State each had two votes and Bowling Green, Toledo and Western Michigan each garnered one vote apiece.
In his first year, Head Coach Danny Hayden led the RedHawks to a regular season MAC East Championship. The team finished 18-9 in conference play (30-27 overall). The Red & White return to the field this Friday at the Mississippi State Classic. It’s a two-game set for the RedHawks, facing off against Cincinnati on Friday and Mississippi State on Saturday.
