Men’s Basketball
Last Week: Miami went earned back-to-back wins for the first time this season, capturing a 69-46 win against Capital last Monday (Recap) and a 66-61 win against UMKC on Saturday. (Recap) Senior guard Will Sullivan led four RedHawks to score in double figures against the Crusaders with his 18 points. Junior guard Eric Washington notched his second 20-point performance of the season with a 23-point effort against the 'Roos and added a career-high seven rebounds to lead MU. The RedHawks have won three of their last four and their last three at Millett Hall. This Week: Miami rounds out a four-game home stretch and opens Mid-American Conference play when the RedHawks host Buffalo in the conference lid-lifter at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7 and then play the second game of a double header when they host Eastern Michigan at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10. Saturday's game is Paws 4 A Cause where items to benefit local animal shelters are being requested for donation. Fans may receive $2 off each ticket per two items donated.
Women’s Basketball
Last Week: Miami (3-9 overall, 0-1 MAC) won its final non-conference game, but dropped its MAC opener. It came down to the last play, but some timely shots and a last second defensive stand gave Miami a 59-58 win over Davidson in its final game at the Cavalier Classic on Monday. (Recap) The RedHawks made a valiant comeback attempt, but could not overcome a slow start as Toledo took a 63-53 victory Saturday afternoon. (Recap) Earlier in the week, senior point guard Courtney Larson earned MAC Player of the Week honors for her performance against Drexel. (Release) This Week: The RedHawks have a pair of conference games this week. Miami travels to Ball State on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. contest. That game will be broadcast live on ESPN3. The ‘Hawks return home to take on Buffalo Saturday at 3 p.m. It is part of a doubleheader that will see the men’s team take on Eastern Michigan at 5:30 p.m.
Hockey
Update: The No. 6 RedHawks have been rather busy around the New Year’s holiday, taking part in the Florida College Hockey Classic in Estero, Fla., before facing Rensselaer in a non-conference road series. Miami opened the Florida tournament by taking a 2-0 lead after two periods on Notre Dame thanks to goals by Cody Murphy and Conor Lemirande, but the Fighting Irish scored twice in the final seven minutes to force overtime, where Jake Evans scored with 45 seconds left to relegate MU to the consolation game (Recap). The RedHawks got goals from unexpected sources in a 3-0 win over Cornell on Dec. 29, with Kevin Morris, Taylor Richart and Devin Loe adding goals while Jay Williams stopped all 15 shots he faced to notch a shutout (Recap). The RedHawks rang in the new year in New York and then held on for a 3-2 win at RPI where Riley Barber scored twice and Ryan McKay made 21 saves for his first win of the year (Recap). Murphy added two more goals in the series finale, which were sandwiched around captain Austin Czarnik’s first goal of the season, while Williams stopped 22 shots for his second-straight shutout victory to clinch a sweep of the Engineers (Recap). This Week: The RedHawks return to NCHC play for the remainder of the regular season when they head to defending regular season champion St. Cloud State for a two-game series Jan. 2-3.
Synchronized Skating
This Week: The RedHawk senior team returns to the ice for the first time in a month when they travel to Lowell, Mass., for the Colonial Classic Jan. 10-11.

This Week: The RedHawks return to the pool at Cincinnati at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10.
